I was blessed to grow up in a very loving home. My father stressed the importance of always working hard, striving to do my best and be the best I could be with the gifts and talents bestowed on me by God.

With my athletic gifts and this attitude, I was privileged to earn a full scholarship playing NCAA Division 1 collegiate basketball. This experience further encouraged my work ethic to constantly improve and strive to reach higher skill levels. It also instilled in me appreciation for the importance of teamwork and the team members around me.

I was married to my high school sweetheart in 1975 right before dental school. Yes, we were King and Queen of the prom. Janet and I trained for road races while she worked as a Physical Therapist and I worked hard in dental school. While at school, I started a lab in my basement and did lab work for 3 local dentists. I also worked as a night security guard at a local assisted living high rise.

Drs. Pete Dawson, Pete Roach and L.D. Pankey instilled in me the importance of keeping our lives in balance.

My personal and professional growth continued after dental school when I was further blessed with the amazing opportunity to work side by side with Dr. Peter Dawson and Dr. Pete Roach.

We shook hands and started working together on that handshake for one year. Our agreement was as binding as any signed agreement because we were all men of our word. I started as a technician in their dental lab. In 1979 we did not have implants, so I was waxing, investing and casting full arch splints. Then learning from great technicians like Paul Muia, Lee Foreman and Ben Crocker.
I loved lab work but could not wait to see patients. That first year became an exceptional learning experience realizing the importance of the lab in the success of the dental work.

This first year transitioned into being asked to join their practice and continue to work side by side with them as they continued to mentor me. They sent me to learn from the best. I went through the L. D. Pankey Continuum, took all of Dr. Dawson’s seminars and attended academy meetings like the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the American Equilibration Society. They taught me to always strive for the absolute best results and to always look for a better or more efficient way to help my patients. I was also invited to participate in Dr. Dawson’s lecturing and eventually become a lead faculty at The Dawson Academy teaching seminars and hands on classes since 1981.

I firmly believe that this balance of: Work-Play-Love (relationships)-Spirituality is the key to contentment and happiness. That is why I love helping dentists become more predictable, efficient and profitable in their work.

I have never taken any of these opportunities or experiences for granted and have continued to work very hard to not only be the best dentist I can be with the best team around me, but also to share my knowledge with other dentists as a way to “pay it forward” in thanks for the many blessings I have received.
